Good morning BET,
thanks so much for catching the action. Sometimes I wonder if intruding osprey aren't previous chicks from this nest and trying to establish their own territory.
I hate to see intruders take over nests but I sometimes I feel bad for them if their own parents put the run on them. I know I humanize too much. very embarrassed

Mom then took off and all the action was off camera. I did see one of them chasing the invader off over the river.

9:40 am
I was away from the computer for the last while. Came back to see Dad claiming Mom -- no mating took place .... I hope it was actually Dad and not an intruder. He promptly flew off.

9:42 am
Dad stopped in with nesting material. Was he actually that quick between the claiming and gathering sticks ?
He flew off again.

9:43 am
Dad returned. The two look to be very wary of intruders in the area.
Dad flew off again within a minute.

9:44 am
Dad returns once again with another stick, and he's off again. He's one busy guy this morning.

I have my own errands to run .. wave

Good morning everyone wave

Thanks for all your posts last evening and this morning. Smile The nest finally began to take shape yesterday and it's looking good today though of course still is a work in progress. It's great that Dad came back early so full of energy and continues bringing in branches, thin though they may be. The city maybe was over zealous in their fall clean-up after our Sept.storm.

Great captures of the early intruder invasion, BET. There have been some flaring wings a few times the past hour too. At 10:24 am Dad landed again after rising off the nest in what looked like a defense manouevre.
As if he isn't busy enough fetching sticks which Mom happily has helped him place earlier this am., though at one point just after 10 am one of them got tangled up in a long branch mid-nest.

10:28 - 32 am Both are back now and their crops are looking good this morning as they build and defend their nest. Mom flies out a minute later and Dad is up and then both are back on the nest with another thwarted mating attempt.

Janet, your second visit to the nest yesterday and shared pictures are much appreciated, thank you. hug
It was gorgeous day, over 21 C, with today' s high predicted to be less than half that but it is supposed to warm up again on Monday.

10:52 am Dad flew out and the nest was empty, I saw him there at 11:22 and then Mom joined him. There was more co-operation from Mom this time, the fish did the trick although I'm not sure her tail was raised in time.
