Thanks for the s'caps of the mating, BET. Mom WAS hanging on by her "toenails" in that breeze for quite some time.

At 6:45 pm Mom flew down to the river, perhaps she is off to catch her own dinner tonight. Dad flew in and he was looking all around for her.

6:58 pm They are both home now and whoops one took off again.

Janet. Thank YouThank YouThank You for those drop dead beautiful photographs!!! Wow, I am speechless.

Janet - What can I say - Absolutely superb photos. Thank you so much

Thank You Cloud 9 Big hugs and my personal menagerie sends their TYs also Good doggy Good doggy Dear cat

My favorite photo is the one where they are both looking at you. Their facial expressions reveal who is who.
Dad on the left looking a bit dignified and above it all - he needs a top hat - and Mom glaring as if to say " how dare you invade our privacy!"

Thank you for spending the time it took to take the photos and for sharing them with us all

The nest was empty at 8:19 pm and I saw noone return until 8:53 pm whereupon they flew in one after another. At 9:01 pm one flew out - not sure who - followed out by the other, Dad , I think, at 9:17 pm.

I hope that the fishing is good tomorrow morning. Good night Thanks again for the beautiful pictures, Janet.

Getting home way to late tonight to partake and contribute. I tuned in this evening after the sun had gone down, and ?Dad was still on the nest.....he just upped and floated away...love how effortlessly osprey do this.
Thank you Bet for the great mating scaps and comparison pics from earlier in the day, which were excellent and really helpful!
and OH MY GOODNESS Janet....those are absolutely breath-taking pics from your visit to the nest area this afternoon...thank you so much for taking that time and sharing it with us here. Big hugs
and JD your descriptions are so top-notch, I really enjoy them as it is like we are there in person....I was watching on and off today as I was working, and was fascinated at how diligently they are working at building up the nest....and yes.....these two are so in sync, they literally seemed to be joined at the hip today....warms my heart Red Heart

What a great day for these two! Looking forward to see what tomorrow brings!

Janet thank you so much for sharing your beautiful pictures with us. I may be a little prejudice but they are one of the most beautiful couples and I am so very grateful that you had the opportunity to visit them with your camera.

7:29 am
Since I've had the cam on, which is only the past few minutes, Mom had been rearranging sticks in the nest. It's amazing how quickly they can build a nest once they get started.

7:32 am
Both on the nest. They did start to move the sticks before Mom's attention was drawn to the river and Dad started watching the zoo area. Neither seem alarmed about anything so perhaps they're resting.

7:37 am
Mom flies off and returned within a minute.

7:40 am
Oh no --- camera went black ! Crossing fingers it's only temporary.
Both were on the nest at the time we lost the camera.

Good Morning.....

Janet your pictures are incredible! It's such a perfect addition to the camera and all the wonderful folks who post those pictures. How about a "short" poem for the efforts of Ma and Dad.

You put a stick stick here and a little grass there,
here a stick, there some grass and soon you have a nest,
ready for the test, one of the best.

Empty nest is not supposed to mean quite that empty,
however we fixed it Dad, and for that we are glad.

Now let's go get fish and you Dad can have your wish,
a nest all ready, to hold on steady, for a season of
chicks, osprey tricks and lots of fish.

Good morning Carolyn Byebye

7:59 am
Camera is back and Dad is on the nest and soon joined by Mom.

8:01 am
Dad flew off across the river..... and returned.
I was out of the room refilling my coffee cup when he returned so didn't see whether or not he brought in a new stick.
The two are now watching the zoo side of the nest.

8:22 a.m.
A fly-by but it was only a magpie. Mom and Dad are standing mid keeping their balance as the wind blows.

8:37 am
Dad has been in and out collecting sticks. The camera focus of action is so bad that it's really difficult to know what's going on.

Hope we don't have to contend with type of cam feed all season. In this shot Dad was actually returning to the nest.

8:42 am
Both leave the nest. Mom returned empty taloned but Dad brought in another long branch.

8:43 am
Mom flew off across the river. A moment later Dad exits to the left of the camera.
While the O's spend their day doing nest construction I'm off to catch up on housework.
