HWF would like to welcome the Hanover/Codorus State Park bald eagle cam to our large and growing family of North American eagle cams. This is the first year for a cam on this nest. It is brought to us by the Pennsylvania Game Commission, HDOnTap, Comcast Business, Friends of Codorus State Park and several other partners. We wish to thank them for this new look into the lives of a bald eagle family! This pair of bald eagles has made its home in Codorus State Park, just outside Hanover, in rural York County, Pennsylvania. They got their names through a contest where local people voted on names. The result? Liberty and Freedom!!
-- The beautiful nest pair--the male on the left--female on the right. Thanks to Photofun for the screencapture!
This is an HD cam that is hard wired to a power source.
This webcam will be broadcasting until the resident pair departs the area in early July. The eagles have maintained this nest for 11 years although not much is known about the nest history. This nest is 75 feet in the air in an oak tree. The female is expected to lay her eggs in the next couple of weeks
The bald eagle's history in Pennsylvania is a precarious one. Only 30 years ago, there were only three nests left in our entire state. With the help of the Canadian government, several agencies including the Pennsylvania Game Commission brought bald eagle chicks back to their states to reintroduce bald eagles to the Northeast. Today, Pennsylvania boasts more than 250 nests.

Codorus State Park is a 3,329-acre Pennsylvania state park in Heidelberg, Manheim, Penn, and West Manheim Townships in southwestern York County, Pennsylvania in the United States. The park was created around Lake Marburg, an artificial lake covering 1,275 acres about three miles southeast of Hanover, Pennsylvania and is named for Codorus Creek, which forms the lake.

The Hanover eagles nest had snow yesterday and last night but as you can see it is melting pretty well, The weekend could prove to have another significant snow storm too.. watching and waiting.
