wave Friends of these Eagles,
Well it's been a couple of trying years for this pair of Eagles,
But I'm pleased to inform you that VPB has approved the building of an HWF nest .
David, crew and I will be at the parking lot Wed. 20 / 17 to build the nest. Confirmation on lift Mon. so will let you know for sure. As Diana has posted ,David feel's that their original nest tree would work best. On a personal note: I would like to thank Di and hub for their hard work in making this happen hug
Talons crossed Ma and Pa Hasting will come home and be pleased and make it their Home.
Cheers

May the Sun be at your back, and an Eagle in front of your lens.

Thanks Larry for the wonderful news. WooHoo

Diana deserves a medal hug she and her husband as well. They worked so so very hard to make this happen. Nodding yes

She basically went to hell and back and just 2 days ago we did not know how the parks board would decide. Don't Panic

Thank you Diana with all my heart and thank you Mike for all you have done. Thank You

For me it means Stan, Angela from OWL and I don't have to collect dead as well as injured eaglets anymore. Frustration

Thanks for making it on Wednesday rather than Tuesday, Larry, as it's supposed to rain Tuesday. David and I were up at Whytecliff Park in Horseshoe Bay yesterday overseeing a nest operation there just outside the part on private property....too hard to get permission when it is public property as you know. Looking forward to seeing the results of this nest building.

As promised I will put up some pictures from the menu card of our Hastings eagles.
They are not afraid of eating other menu items rather than just fish.

Unfortunately when the nest came down and little Survivor had to learn how to dismantle prey on a branch, 6 baby crows, 2 baby gulls and one baby cormorant had to die in vain, as Survivor did not know how to dismantle them on a branch.
At first the prey was lying under the tree totally uneaten.

As the days went by, Survivor managed to eat a bit more and a bit more, till he learned how to deal with his food.
Then, about a week later, Survivor had learned his lesson.
He moved unto a different tree with a larger branch to eat his meals and did very well for himself as you can see on the video I posted.

Unfortunately the remains of all these baby birds were lying under the nest tree for weeks, till they rotted away.

Anyway, here are some pictures of some of the items that were on the menu this year for the Hastings eagles.

Oh my Annemie! Did all this go down with the nest or delivered to Survivor on the tree branch?
