Nice catch Scott. It looks more like a red tailed hawk to me but I'm no specialist on them. Grin If it hung around til 4:00 am your Hastings couple would have had something to scream at. I'm hearing different reports this year of eagle couples being noisy around 3-4 am. Have fun!

You're so right, Sandra. That's no juvie bald eagle. That's a red-tailed hawk.

Just tonight on CTV news they ran a story about a 'hawk' that was playing with a soccer ball. It was no hawk. It was a juvie bald eagle in it's 4th year. I immediately called the station and they are supposed to correct it on the 11 PM newscast.

wave Hi folks

Stan and I have been by the nest at 3 different occasions in the last two weeks and have seen Ma and Pa Hastings flying into the nest tree at dusk to stay for the night.
Ma flies in first and Pa always comes in about 15 min. later.
Regardless of location, they have always flown in with this pattern of arrival when sleeping at the nest.
Last night was no different.
I made some pictures of ma at dusk and then, when Stan and me drove out of the parking lot to drive by the Pandora nest, we saw Pa fly in.

Here are some pictures of Ma Hastings:
