Wonderful news Annemie! Did your personal eagle alarm snort to warn you to look to the sky?

Hi Friends of the Hastings eagles.
First, I like to thank you Sharon for setting up this Forum for the next year.
I hope you had a nice holiday and it is nice to have you back.
Next, thank you Irish Eyes, Karen B., Marg and Sandra for celebrating with us the return of the Hastings eagles. That made me happy.
Sandra, yes my eagle alarm never fails me. Thank you for asking.
I happened to be outside already when the eagles arrived.
Two days ago, Oct. 9th I saw two eaglets flying over Hastings park.
( As I reported at the Lafarge site, a few day ago, 13 eaglets flew over Hastings park)
In the evening of Oct. 9th. at 7 pm, Stan and I went to the new nest.
When it was dark, ma or was it pa, came flying in and onto the new nest.
The eagle stayed there for about 8 seconds and then flew over to the old nest for the night.

Thanks for your report, Annemie. I'm sure that Ma and Pa will continue to use their old nest tree as one of their favorite perches. They can certainly keep an eye on the new nest from there.

Took a walk with Annemie over to the new nest location at 6 PM. When we got there we first saw one of the adults just up beside the new nest but then it quickly moved into the nest to start rearranging some branches. Not minute later the other adult appeared on the scene and landed in the nest, right behind the other eagle. Some more branch moving took place and what looked like Ma moved off and perched on the end of a large branch near the nest facing towards Hastings Street.
Was really great seeing them both at the new nest tonight and it looks promising folks this will indeed turn out to be their new home for the season ahead of us

Hi Sharon, Sandra, Karen, Irish Eyes, Marg, Shrub, Stan, Confusion Circle, Urban Eagle, Daybreak, Diana and all lovers of these eagles.
Ma and Pa Hastings are still home and fly to their new nest most every evening.
When Stan and I were at the new nest last Saturday, Dad had just arrived with a huge Stick.
Mom was sitting beside the nest, which was a smart move.
When Dad was finished placing the huge stick he went back to the old cottonwood and brought a very little stick.
It almost looked like a flower it was so small.

We stayed but just a little time and saw dad make 4 trips to the old cottonwood to get new sticks.
The nest is already quite big but I think that dad wants to build a mansion.
I made some pictures with my 15 year old 100.00 Dollar camera.
Here is Hasting's dad at the old nest site to get a stick.
He is sitting right in the center of the picture.

Here is Dad bringing in a twig he got from the Cottonwood tree.
It seems like the whole nest is build from fresh branches off that tree.

And here is the video where you can see dad at work.
If you watch closely you can see a twig in dad's talons.
If you don't listen closely you will still hear how noisy it is at the nest site, unreal that they chose to live there.
Of course the old nest site is just as noisy.
