Maybe it was just self feeding because after this I met Scott who said it is early for a hatch. How nice to meet him.

Not early at all, Sandra. Delta 3 nest had their first egg fully hatched by 5:30 PM today. There are other nests in the Lower Mainland who usually hatch their eggs by April 1st, which is David Hancock's birthday. He refers to those as his birthday nests.

Wonderful pictures. I agree that it looks as if she is feeding chicks.

Hello Everybody,

Welcome to town stim! Glad you got to see some action at this nest!

We made stopped by the nest yesterday, around dinner time. One of the adults was in the nest, looking very calm and relaxed.

He/she yawned a couple of times, and after about an hour, an egg role and change of position was done!

At first I thought there might be a feeding going on, but once the adult was settled in, he/she remained in the new position for quite some time.

We waited as long as we could to see the other adult, but with no luck. Maybe next time!

Cheers

wave Hi friends of these eagles

Stan and I went to the nest yesterday evening at 7:10 pm.
When we arrived, we could not see not hear any eagles, but knew that one of them must be in the nest.
There were a lot of people waking by to hear a concert at the PNE grounds.
I took a shot of the nest to show you folks the 3 big branches that the eagles gnawed off and made part of their nest.
If you click on the picture it will enlarge.

At exactly 8:pm, one of our Hastings eagle came finally flying in.

I went directly over to it's partner and they did an immediate swap.

The eagle that sat on the eggs shot out of the nest like a bullet and flew over to the old nest.
The other eagle did an egg roll and sat down so we could not see it anymore.

I think they kept it short because of all the people around that area crossing Hastings St. and walking by the nest to get to the concert.
I managed to get a picture of the eagle that flew to the old nest and then settling down right above the old nest.
It will be in the next post.

Nice to see you both here Heather and Annemie.
It is hard to believe your eagles could gnaw through those sturdy branches! Their nest must be easier to find now!
I can't believe they have nested so close to so much activity, with people, vehicles and noise from the PNE grounds. Their old nest is so close the interference must be very similar.

Hello Everyone!

We dropped by this nest on Saturday Morning to see if there was any action. We just parked when we saw Ma flying out of the old nest tree, and land in the new nest across Hastings. I kept an eye out, thinking that there may be a swap in the works, but she just settled down, doing the wiggle as she nuzzles her egg(s).

She no sooner got settled when she started to trill! Then Pa arrived on the scene, answering back as he landed on one of the branches near the nest.

He didn't stay too long when he launched into flight, heading in my direction!

As he flew over my head, I felt a little sad thinking he was just was checking us out as he headed out for a big wing stretch! As I focused back on the nest, my husband said, 'Look behind you!' Up in the tree next to the old nest tree, in his favorite watch perch, was Pa!

He was there for quite a while, preening and watching the crows bothering a Raven in a tree across the street.

He remained there for a while, when the crows turned their attention to him!

That was only for a short time. Then we heard Ma calling from the nest! Pa took on a launch stance,

I turned to see what was going on over at the nest, when I noticed Ma in flight! Pa joined her, the pair circled each other over the PNE, and Pa headed to the nest, and Ma came over to the tree where Pa was perched!

After getting to see a swap! and being able to visit with both eagles for a short time, we headed off.

Cheers
