Welcome to the Ardmore Bald Eagle Nest

This thread is dedicated to observations, photos and videos of the eagles who inhabit a nest located in the Ardmore area of North Saanich on Vancouver Island BC.
It is on private property so the exact location will not be made public.
in 2012-2013 this pair had at least one eaglet successfully fledge.
In 2013-2014 there were 2 eaglets who successfully fledged.
We look forward to a new season for 2014-2015.

Here is the link to the 2013-2014 thread.

I did a tour of the nests on the peninsula this afternoon and didn't see any eagles around the Ardmore nest area or near the beach. The nest tree property has finally sold Clapping

I visited the nest area and the beach this afternoon. I did not see or hear the eagles around the nest but did hear one short squawk from the edge of the beach; the tide was way in so I couldn't see the trees surrounding the nest tree. As I was driving down Arbutus Rd. I spotted an eagle perched at the top of a tree near the new development site. It looked like Mom and she was calling and calling. I heard Dad calling from the nest area. Here's the only pic I took, which has been cropped.

After many undocumented visits to Ardmore over the last couple of months, I am pleased to report I saw one adult today perched next the nest. Difficult photo op but thankfully documentation nevertheless. I only wish I had seen both.

I visited the nest area and the beach yesterday. Didn't see any eagles until I was driving along Ardmore Dr. after I had left the nest area; 1 adult perched in a snag on the left side of the road. I had a short chat with the owner of the property at the end of the road; the property I thought the nest tree was on. She told me the nest tree is on the neighbour's property.

I don't remember if this tree next to the nest tree was broken last time I was there.

Visited Ardmore nest yesterday. Again there was one adult perched in a tree next to the nest. The sun behind it precluded a picture.

At the beach I could not see the eagle so I took a couple of pix, had lunch and carried on.

Beautiful group of daffodils

On the way back up the path from the beach to the car I could hear 2 eagles communicating with each other so I went back to the nest site but could not see the eagles. It was encouraging to hear 2 though and the nest certainly looks like it has been spruced up to welcome a new family.fingers crossed

I visited the Ardmore nest site yesterday and did not see the eagles in or around the nest, which looks like there have been quite a few new sticks added.

I heard the eagles calling back and forth so I headed down to the beach. They were both perched on separate rocks enjoying the sun. Unfortunately the sun was causing a glare on my hoodless lens Roll eyes

I took this pic of the bay; there were lots of ducks swimming and diving. And the daffodils still look gorgeous Left thumb up

I visited the nest area and the beach yesterday with my sister and we did not see or hear any eagles. No peeping or movement coming from the nest and no neighbours to talk to Sad It was eerily quiet except for this male Spotted Towhee serenading us.
