The big stick!

Dad returns to the nest about 8 minutes later with a big stick

He drops it on top of Mom and then drags it across her to try to place it on the right side of the nest

Mom takes over the placing. In doing so, the stick hangs up on her wing

She finally shakes free of the stick and flies off. The stick is partly over the egg bowl so Dad finishes placing it and takes over egg duty.

Where can I find the instructions to post a video clip. The stick was funny and I had the time to edit and save out the section to a windows media file but I do not know how to post it here.

Sorry, not sure, Bet. Try pm'ing JudyB or jkr for their guidance.

11;30, 33am Dad brought in two more smaller sticks, laying the first across Mom's tail. And another, he gets Mom up again to check the eggs and Mom flies out.

I think Dad is used to seeing sticks on the perimeter of the nest and it doesn't look right to him so he is compelled to make it right. At 11:41 am Dad flies off leaving the eggs unattended. This amount of snow is all new to him and his inexperience is showing. Oh My

11: 46 am I hope that Mom is still close by and returns to her eggs! This is not good.

11:48 am I think this is Dad finally back to the eggs after 7 minutes exposure. Very not good as it is still zero or -1C (about 30 F).

11:51 am Dad flies off once more , Mom flies in and Dad follows her. Mom leaves and Dad checks the eggs.

I'm not sure if Dad brought Mom a fish but might have as it looked like something dropped on the far side of the nest as they came in. Mom mouthed something in front of her while sitting on the eggs.

Enmax website down for maintenance. I knew I should never have shut it down when I ran to town, now I can't get the cam. Sad

BET, you will need to post your video to YouTube, or a website of your choice, in order to post a link to your video here. We have no other way to display videos on our HWF forum, which is unfortunate, because they take up way too much web space which we don't have available.

Well I spent at least an hour editing and then relearning Youtube etc. Not something I will do often.

Thank You Thanks Bet, that was hilarious and I'm sure that everyone will enjoy seeing it. I was amazed myself and then I kind of remember seeing Dad gettting Mom to move off the eggs with sticks on her back last year.Green LOL

12:15 pm Mom is brooding. The snow has melted around her a bit so the doughnut hole is getting bigger. It started snowing again at my place in the n.w. a half hour ago but didn't last long. Lots is dropping off the trees now.
