Thanks for the weather update Janet - temps look tolerable.

I researched 2012 and 2013 for egg gestation time. 37 to 39 days for her first egg to hatch. Using those numbers we should watch for hatching starting at the earliest June 7.

Due to the amount of time the first egg has endured cold temps ( don't forget it was uncovered and snowed on for more than 1 hours Saturday before dawn) if it is viable, my guess is later that 39 days.

I forgot to say I like the names Blizzard and Frosty too. And also I saw Mom stand up in the bowl at 9:15 am and she stood over the eggs for 7 minutes cooling them this morning. So obviously Mom doesn't think they
are too cool. NO:giggle2

10:00 AM Mom looks around as she broods in the ""snow doughnut"

I know that I can't get the Victoria hummers on Chrome anymore so am using Firefox for it.

Oh, My!! Oh My

Dad came in at 10:09 am and sat beside Mom who continued to brood her eggs. He waited awhile and then went to fetch a big branch which he deposited on Mom's back, dragging it over her until Mom finally got up to remove it. Dad immediately leaned down to check the eggs and Mom flew off (no doubt in disgust) Green LOL at 10:23.

Dad is happily on his eggs at 10:29 am.

JD I was watching at the time of the visit and the stick. Took time to set up the images and I saved the video (I don't save the videos very often as they take up so much disk space. Nor do I edit them to post as I like to see the images with out having to watch a video - just my preference)

The Visit

Mom on the bowl when Dad flies in - they seem to be watching something and on a moderate alert status. Note how deep their feet sink into the frosting on the doughnut (Roll eyes)

Mom kept her left foot up out of the cold

Dad started down into the nest bowl - to take over egg duty ? or he just wasn't looking where he was going as he continued up and out and flew off

I hoped that you caught that, Bet. Dad's feet were all over the bowl when he moved the stick and I hope he didn't step on the eggs, he was very awkward moving it.
