I am surprised we haven't seen much for gulls on the new shoreline but maybe it's too early in the season yet. Janet, were there any around while you were there ?

Good morning Judy! Regarding the gulls, not sure about yesterday, but when I was there the other day, they were congregating on the new sand bar, east/left of the tip of the peninsula that the platform sits on... not in the huge numbers that we see later in the season, but they are around.....
More larger sticks have been added....coming along nicely
9:42 am this is handsome Dad

9:20am

Mom was on the nest when Dad flew in with a fish

Mom moved up right next to him and reached down for the fish. She wasn't getting a grasp on it to pull it out of Dad's talons. Dad reached down and pulled the fish free of his foot and then Mom grabbed it - a tiny tug of war for the fish

Mom got a good hold on it and took off for ? to eat brunch

6:37pm.................I think it was the adult that was in the nest already who took the fish and flew off with it.

This adult was picking at branches trying to move them. There are many more large branches here today.

HI Jeanwave

Glad you caught the fish delivery. Fish: and nice picture of Mom's tail. I watched from 4:45pm until just after 6 (rather distractedly at the end) and Mom was waiting in the nest for that fish! Her partner flew in just around 5:55 pm and his advances were spurned. He flew off and back but I'm sure he got the message then. Rolling on floor laughing No fishie, no hanky-panky....

The nest does look good though with a lot of large branches added. Mom was sitting facing the cam tonight at 8:37 pm. when I tuned in again. At 8:41 she turned around and shortly took off probably to find a perch for the night.

Thanks for all the s'caps today, jkr, Michelle, BET and Jean. And your photos from your nest visit yesterday
are beautiful, Janet. Cloud 9 We can't thank you enough for your dedication to this nest and your skill! Bravo.

It reached 15C today but was overcast most of the day and started sprinkling around 7 pm. There is a heavy rainfall warning north of Calgary and here's hoping the rain doesn't hit us too hard. The ice is finally disappearing from my yard so really hoping it doesn't turn to snow later in the week. It was wonderful to have spring for a few days.

Mom has done nothing but watch the river area. I thought for sure she would deal with some of the new sticks and grass on the nest but she hasn't touched them. Maybe with the wind blowing she is more concerned with staying perched in one spot.
