Updates from Sutton Center:

17 February 2014: The eagle pair at Sooner Lake is nesting at an alternate nest rather than on the tower where the cameras are located. This is not unusual, as the pair here has initiated nests at several additional nearby locations in recent years. We do expect that they may continue to visit the camera nest for feeding and loafing, but will probably not be on camera a great deal this season. It does not look promising that the Sequoyah nest will be used by eagles this year either, but perhaps we will be treated to visits or nest attempts by other species as we were last year.

18 August 2014: Depending on where the eagles choose to nest later this fall, we hope to get the cameras working again.

8 October 2014: We are waiting for an indication regarding where the eagles will nest later this year to determine if the existing camera equipment should be replaced. It is both time consuming and expensive to replace the equipment, so we don't want to do so if a nest site is not used. Here's hoping for cooperative eagles!

From Comments below the cams:

Comment: Hi everyone! Did anyone ever hear if either pair of eagles were successful at raising chicks in their new nests? Thanks!

Comment: JudyB, both pair we are familiar with successfully raised chicks last season. The Sooner pair raised 2, the Seq pair we do not have a count on.

Comment: At Seq Wildlife Refuge, there are multiple nesting territories. All of them were occupied. We just really do not know which nest "our pair" resided in.

So - congratulations to Mom and Dad Sequoyah on a successful season, even though it was off-cam. Bravo

The close-up cam is currently offline, and the remaining cam is pulled back so it's hard to tell if anyone is visiting the nest tree.

I'm going to continue this thread rather than setting up a new one until we know if there will be a cam to watch for the 2015 season. I'll add a few empty posts in a day or two that we can use for opening posts if we decide to split the thread later.
