Phoebe will lay her second egg today......

Phoebe is back on the nest, and doing a lot of wiggling and quivering. I'm wondering if she's getting ready to lay her second egg.



Turning around in a circle....

Phoebe just flew off. I'm still only seeing the one egg.

Phoebe just zipped off - still only seeing one egg.

She's back.

She's doing a lot of quivering and shaking.

It sure looks to me as if she's having contractions, with periods of rest in between. Looking at the egg, and looking at her - that's a mighty big egg for such a tiny bird, and I'm not surprised that it's a lot of work to produce! I just heard what sounded like footsteps, and she zipped off. I know she's used to people coming and going, so expect she'll be back soon.

Phoebe is back. I'm sure it's partly seeing what I want to see, but I think she's looking a bit plump.

A few more periods of quivering - and now she's off again. And back a minute or two later.

8:30am Phoebe spent about 5min in the nest - rolling that egg around. She does look like a chipmunk with that crop!
