All In The Family Portrait; Follow Flight Leader; Mom Delivers; Big & Vocal C8~7-15-17
Video & Photos: Judy/UrDogNu

Video begins with a gorgeous time-lapse of the sunrise. Around 6am, Junior follows dad on a short flight and back to the nesting areas to perch. Around 7:00 am, Mom delivers a small mystery nibble to the nest, as Dad and C8 are both perched in the lakeside dead tree. Junior gets to the nest and quickly gobbles it up and joins Mom and Dad. They are all perched tightly together for about 45 minutes which made for some fantastic family shots. As I was driving away around 9:30am, I heard Junior making a racket...it looks like Dad delivered something.

Fledgling Ground Landing, Free Catch For C8, Chasing Vultures, Wading & Flights~7-18-17
Video & Photos: Judy/UrDogNu

Hand held video...
Linda and I spent the day on her boat. The foggy morning started out with the male heading for the tall stick perch near the marina. We watched him for an hour when he departed and headed for the dam area. We headed over to the nesting area and found C8 perched in the jungle gym tree across Wadleigh Arm. After a couple hours, Junior departed and gave us a beautiful flight show with turkey vultures and a smaller bird of prey. Mid morning we found Dad perched in the Island Tree. Around noon, we found C8 flying beautifully near the nest tree, where she eventually pulled out the landing gear for a landing right on the waters edge. She found a dead fish, picked it up with her beak, transferred it to her feet, and hopped all over the place with it. It looks like she was trying to fly with it. It was fascinating watching C8 deal with the Turkey Vultures landing one by one trying to get to the fish. Junior held her ground. Found mom and dad perched in the Island Tree on our way back to the marina. I am sure they were watching Junior on the ground.

Independence Day; Three Deliveries By 7:30am ~ 7-20-17
Video & Photos: Judy/UrDogNu

Just as I was setting up around 5:45am, Dad departed toward the lake with C8 on his tail. Junior did an about turn back to the nesting area and within minutes, dad arrives with prey to the nest. About 10 minutes later, dad leaves again and brings back a large fish to the lakeside tree where Junior was perched. Junior must not have been hungry after that first meal. Dad flew to the dead tree by the hill and still Junior did not make way after it. Mom flies into the nest around 7:15am with prey while Dad decides to chow. Not until after 9:00am did Junior finally make way to the nest where Mom was waiting. C8 departs the nest and flies around the lake until I lost her...Mom cleaned up nest overs... while dad watched his progeny fly around the lake squeeing away with newfound independence.
