'Hover-copter'; Strong & Confident; Dad & C8 Share Break'fish'~6-27-17
Video & Photos by Judy

C8 is 87 Days Old today. This is my very favorite time...as the eaglet leaps around the branches, exuding confidence, gearing up for that first flight. After spending over 10 hours observing C8 today, s/he is more than ready to fly...strength, coordination and confidence is apparent. The flight muscles will continue to fully developed after fledge.

This Is How You Do It Junior~6-28-17
Video & Photos by Judy

88 Days Old Today. There were three fish deliveries between 7am and 2pm. The first fish dad did not deliver to the nest, rather to a nearby tree. C8 hollered up a storm while perched in the upper right branch. Shortly before the fog lifted (about 35 minutes later) he brought the fish to the nest and departed. Dad shared two of the other fish with C8 and showed C8 some new moves and an exit point on the upper branches, where C8 has been hanging out recently. It is fascinating watching the male teach.

Dad sticks around.

Rushing Dad; Stand-Off, Take-Off & Show-Off; Mom Meets Dad In Air Delivery~6-29-17
Video & Photos by Judy

C8 is 89 days old today. Both parents delivered fish today. C8 dropped into the nest from the slide branch just before Dad landed...and was quickly rushed off the nest. Junior was hungry. C8 was perched again on the slide branch when Mom delivered a fish, and was a little slower to make its way to the nest, and once there, Mom decided to fly to the upper right branch. After a bit of a hissy fit and ignoring the food, C8 hopped back up to the slide branch. Mom made her way back down to eat and eventually they both shared the fish...well, sort of. Huge helicoptering while Mom was eating.

New Branches & New Heights; Desire To Fly Surging; 90 Days Old~6-30-17

Video and photos by Judy/UrDogNu

C8 will be 13 weeks old tomorrow. I thought for sure Junior was going to fly today...sure got my heart pounding a few times. As you will see in the video, this bird is showing all the signs that s/he is ready to fly. Dad delivered twice within 10 minutes. The first might have been a small rodent and the second was a fish. Maybe tomorrow will be 'the day'.

ALMOST...Just Above The Tree Top; Dive-Bombing Hawk; Fish~7-1-17
Video & Photos by Judy/UrDogNu

E8 is 13 weeks old today. There were three food deliveries today between 6am and 2:30pm. Junior hovered above the nest tree and I thought the wind would take him, but he managed to lower himself in some branches and then back to the nest. He seemed to be a bit gun shy after that. Out of the blue, a brave and small hawk dive-bombed Mom near the nest. It was endearing to watch Mom feed Junior. Slow motion clips.

Screen capture from video...I was using a remote shutter on my still camera while working my video camera when C8 hovered above the nest tree top.
More photos and video coming.
