21.30 Poor baby. He/she has been alone for hours (apparently after 4 PM)... Koit brought food, but the baby canīt eat stiff meat without any help. Oh My It seems Eha got scared of the human voices earlier today. (She stopped being on the nest after the banding last year. It seems she canīt handle people. I canīt blame her for disliking people... But I hope she will return soon. This baby still needs mom.)

Oh no Mia. I thought the bird who came back after E1 had been alone so long in the evening was a wet Eha but after reading Looduskalender and looking at my scaps again, I realized it was Koit. Your explanation is much more detailed then anything on Loodus also. Stephi, last season, when she was so much larger had the hardest time with the mole. This one is far too small to even attempt such food.

When I went on the cam this morning, E1 was alone already.

Would the viewers who do the ringing consider raising the baby for release if Eha does not return? Stupid people for going so close.

They did try to foster a baby last year or the year before and it didn't work too well--I never did find out what happened to the baby.

-- Baby is alone at about 6:30Am Estonia time but seemed to have food in her crop which I couldn't get a good shot of. I'm more concerned about another large bird taking the baby while no parent is there.

I donīt remember hearing them fostering any LSE babies (at least not web cam birds). Chin In 2009 Spot injured his/her wing after the fledge and he/she was taken in wildlife centre. http://www.maaleht.ee/news/loodus/loodu ... d=25687439 & http://www.looduskalender.ee/forum/view ... start=3860 But I donīt think they have been taking LSE chicks out of the nest (except one Black Stork chick last year, who injured his beak during the ringing). And I donīt believe they will.

I will look and see if I can find it but it might not be possible--I don't even remember what year it was. I remember watching one of the researchers climb up to one of those nests and place a baby in it after the one in the nest either died or was taken.

I finally got a picture of E1's crop so somebody was there feeding baby.
