I spotted this turkey vulture last Thursday (Sept. 19, 2013) in Barrington, Nova Scotia. There's an eagle's nest in this area, so of course that's what I was looking for. But I got this beautiful bird instead. (I the feather pattern on the wings!)

Yurok Tribe to release condors in California ~~


Yurok tribal tradition holds the California condor as sacred, with ancient stories saying the giant birds fly closest to the sun and are the best messengers to carry prayers.

Now, after five years of research, the far northern California-based tribe has received permission to release captive-bred condors into the Redwood Coast, where the giant bird hasn’t soared for more than a century.

Does anyone know what type of raptors these are? Hubby and I saw them on our drive today to Yarmouth, Nova Scotia. I don't think they are eagles or turkey vultures, but they were flying so high and fast that neither I (with my camera) nor my husband (with his binoculars) could really focus in on them. Might they be ospreys?

Well, apparently these are eagles after all! A poster on the Raptors & Renegades Facebook group has said that these photos definitely show the silhouette of an eagle. So I guess I should have posted them in the Eagles forum, LOL!
