Dad has been busy this morning. Now he is raiding someone's garden for the cedar bark mulch. Will make a nice base to the bowl.

Mom was just standing on the nest when Dad came flying in

He immediately went into threat mode - Wings flapping - head down - shoulders up and Mom ducked her head down and kept it down

Dad stopped the wing challenge but stayed hunched up ready to go watching down and to both sides. I could not see the cause of the alarm. Mom watched right along with Dad - their head movements synchronized.

Finally the threat, what ever it was evidently left as Dad flew off, down towards the river edge.

Dad came in with a big stick again this morning.
It's another large Y shape branch and difficult to maneuver around the nest. He finally got it set into the left side but it's not looking very stable.

The female flies in and tries out the bowl. She laid there and kicked grass out from under her. Sorry I missed getting a screen capture.

The mesh screen is showing in the center of the bowl after Mom kicked up the grass.
This bowl is definitely not centered in the platform like it was last year.

Dad flies in with a talon full of grass for the bowl

First time Mom and Dad have been on the nest together today.

10:00am MDT or thereabouts

Dad brought in another really big stick. As the end touched the nest it started spinning around - reminded me of one of those carnival rides where there are capsules swung out from a center pole that goes round and round.

He finally was able to steady it and started lowering it to the nest.

Lots of problems trying to position it and finally ended up with most of it over the side - the heaviest portion sticking up near Dad's face in this image.

I finally figured out what the black blob is that was added to the nest recently. Mom picked it up and moved it - I missed the capture - but it is a glove So the first weird item has now been added WIll make a nice solid base to the bowl
