View of their side feathers. Female is the smaller of the two which is very unusual in the osprey family.

Good Morning or is it Noon. My internet connection has been down all morning so just now able to watch comings and goings. Mom and Dad, I still get confused. I am going to have to spend some real time making a comp photo. Mom's head markings are so small, that telling the difference that way (unless they are on the nest together and no wind is blowing) is almost impossible.

They have added a LOT of sticks since yesterday. I noted yesterday and it's confirmed this am - they - well Dad - is building the nest to include the supporting post top (see image on page 1) The far side of the nest does need some attention but things are progressing. Which is good as it's not that long until egg laying time.

Yesterday I captured a - what I will term - a successful mating, not just a claiming. I'll do photos later.

Watch the back ground down on the river. The ducks and geese are being busy also. Spring has sprung!Grin

Regarding size of Mom and Dad - Mom does seem small, but take into account depth of focus/perspective. When Dad is closer to the cam, he is going to look a good deal bigger.

Mom's house keeping activities were accompanied by some wing fluttering. Evidently she was trying to entice Dad to do his duty. I have to wonder watching the fluttering if they have a scent (like canines or felines in heat) and the fluttering sends the aroma into the air? But whether that is the case or not, Dad appeared and accomplished the job.

Mom and Dad were very cooperative today. They stood together in parallel and in tandem making a comparison of size and markings a piece of cake

The tandem image should enlarge if you click once or twice on it

I should have noted on the image that you can see the size difference in Dad and Mom in this image and how much smaller Mom is. As JKR said, surprising as it's usually the opposite

Mom is beaking about in the nest bowl.
Maybe Dad is the main nest builder and Mom is the nest bowl builder ? :dunno:
