Caught this one before he could land. It hung up in the nest and he had to drop it in order to make a landing.

Has anyone found information that says the male does ALL the nest building ?
This is really different behavior than what we see with eagles.

Does Calgary have earthquakes. I was watching the cam, both O's on the nest and they hunkered down like the wind was blowing, but the nest box swayed back and forth several times. Maybe the wind was blowing the cam, but sure looked like quake movement.

Nest has been busy this am since I turned it on about a half hour ago. Dad flew in with a stick and right behind him came Mom with a clump. I thought Wow, she's finally going to do something to help. No! she had a fish. She as stood there eating her fish while Dad has flown off and on bringing more sticks. She doesn't even move out of his way. He has had to land almost on top of her in the front corner and place his sticks on the front box edge - so they are falling off. He tries to maneuver and his rear goes over the top of Mom and she just keeps eating. (I'm happy to say she doesn't have a sofa and TV)

Lots of sticks brought in this afternoon. I think half have gone to ground. Mom still just stands on the nest looking about.

Here Dad dumped a stick right on immoveable Mom's back. She had to move around a bit to shake it off. It finally slid off backwards.

Later Dad put his wing over and kept it over Mom while he adjusted the stick he just brought in.

The O's have been fighting the wind so much today, I finally decided to check the weather. Calgary has wind warnings 52 km/h (32mph) with gusts to 76 km/h (47mp) so it's no wonder the cam has been moving and the O's have been hunkering down. Several times when Dad has taken off to get a new stick he has side slipped instead of forward motion.

Poor Dad - He has been trying to mate, or at least do a claiming. About a half a dozen tries failed due to wind sheer! Sad Every time he had his target lined up, the wind would blow him away. Oh My They finally gave up and both flew off for a bit. Dad did come back after about ten minutes with another stick.

Here is a sample series of his problem

I hate to say this female is lazy but you think she'd help out a bit with the interior decorating.
She stands there while Dad does all the work. Whistling

Been watching for an hour now. The only O. that has been to the nest is Dad. He's brought in a few sticks this morning.
