Mom was on the nest - just standing on box edge. Dad flew in and started challenging something below and to the left.

Dad claimed Mom - Not sure if just mounted her or if an actual breeding took place as the pertinent portions of their bodies was out of view

Dad returned to his challenging who ever was below

Dad flew off - his take off was vertical and actually flew side ways due to what appears to be strong winds Reminded me of a helicopter taking off.

Since I captured the above images Mom has been staying on the nest and Dad has been non stop flying off and returning with sticks. It's now 5:17 and Mom just left and the nest is vacant for the moment

The wind must really be strong Both O's are hunkered down facing into the wind, using the box frame as a bit of a shield A few hail/snow flakes floating by occasionally.

The sticks in the nest are growing. Dad is being very busy. Mom just stands there. Does not even make an attempt to help locate the sticks, let alone go get any. Not like the eagles where Mom seems to have to have the last say about every stick. This nest is definitely Dad's creation

Mom has a fish to eat - first time I've seen one eat on the nest this season - while Dad stands by

Dad flew off and returned with a strange clump for the nest.

Dad and Mom have both been hunkering down into the wind. When it lessens a bit Dad flies off and returns with nest material

This time when the wind eased, he did another claiming. Now I call it a claiming as I don't think a mating occurred. He tried, but even in this profile view, I don't think the deed was accomplished.

He tried again a bit later, but this time a wind gust interrupted the liaison.

Another snowy, windy day in Calgary.

5:39 AM
Claiming ? Whatever was happening this morning I caught it except the big drop of moisture was on the camera to block the view

5:40 am
The drop finally fell off the camera just before Dad flew off.

Both are on the nest.
The wind is blowing so hard they can barely keep their balance.

6:17 am
Dad flew off and within a nano-second he was back for another claiming.
Once that was over with he flew off and Mom remained standing in the middle of the nest.

The two have been in and out with sticks. Considering the wind I'm really surprised they've been so busy this morning.

Dad is in with another big stick while Mom sits on the nest.
I don't think this stick will last long. He set it down so that it's barely balancing on the corner of the nest box.

He arrives with another stick. He's a busy guy this morning.love
