4:40pm

Mom has not settled down yet. She keeps picking at something under her. Just behind the chick. She tossed a small bit of white out away from the area. Is she helping a hatching? ChinPuzzled

Now I will have to keep my nose to the monitor

I might have seen some shell off to the side - and it looked like too many stripes for one chick, but she's sure not giving a good look.

I have to get some things done. So I reviewed my video clip of Mom's restless 30 minutes.

This is the best view I could get and I manipulated the light a lot. It's anybody's guess

Dad is in with a small fish. Mom is looking over at him as he eats at the back of the nest, but hasn't gotten up yet.

5:20 pm
Dad is continuing to eat at the back of the nest. It occasionally looks as if he might offer Mom a bite, but I don't think he did. She continues to look over at him from time to time, but doesn't get up.

And now I also need to leave for a while.

Now we have two. Judging from the piece of shell Mom threw out, actual hatching was at 4:40pm

This view is from 5:45pm
