Back Story on the eggs and the Plastic Garbage Bag

May 9: The first egg was delivered - color light - white

May 10: Dad brought in the large plastic bag. The size was the biggest problem. As they would try to adjust it in the nest, they could not move it as they would be standing on part of it. Occasionally the wind would help move it some but again, just to big to really get out of the way.

May 11: Bag completely covering egg - photo above

May 12: Bag still there, but egg just showing at the edge of it.

May 13: Second egg delivered - color dark - terracotta
Bag still there but both eggs just at the edge of the bag.

May 14: Bag still present early am, removed from nest about noon time

May 15: Third egg delivered - color light - white

The nest bowl was lined with cedar bark, - the shavings that people use to mulch gardens and walkways - which has stained the eggs. The two light ones , about 1/3rd of the shells are almost black where they rested against the wet bark.

The color of the eggs can help give us an idea of which eggs hatch when.

Looks like Mom still on the nest and the poor lady is soaked. No end to all this rain.
Wish I could say it's sunny where I live but it's raining here as well --- Depressing Sad

It was rainy here this morning too - though it's supposed to be clearing off now (no windows in my cubicle).

And the cam seemed to freeze, and now I'm getting a message about Server.Reject and other tech-speak. Not sure if it's down or if I need to clear my cache and/or reboot.

Added:
And as soon as I posted that, I was able to get the cam.

Looks like Mom, based on the size.

Second adult (Dad?) just arrived with something - a giant clamshell? Ah - he just turned it, and it is indeed a fish. Mom carefully backed off the eggs (still 3), took the fish and left, and Dad took his place incubating.

Dad brought Mom a headless (as is usual) fish. It did look strange until he turned it dragging it toward Mom

Mom took the fish and flew off to eat it elsewhere - as usual - and Dad took over as keeper of the eggs.

Dad was watching Mom off in the distance. He stood and started to back up. I thought he was going to make room for Mom. But no, he checked the eggs and then settled right back down on them. Not much of a view, but the terracotta - #2 egg - was easily seen.
