Dale busy eating his fish for the last 10 minutes when here comes that brazen bird

Dale and the Magpie stared at each other for a few seconds

Dale flared his wings - (probably screeched get out) and Magpie left

Dale returned to eating. Magpie returned and quickly left again. This looks to me like it's a juvenile Magpie.

1:00pm

Busy busy nest! Green LOL While I was posting, Dad landed on the nest - for about 2 seconds then left. Magpie back for about 2 seconds. Dad back again - this time for about 30 seconds. Magpie back again, this time landing low and peeking up at the nest level. Then left. Dale continued to eat his fish - although he did stop to look at each interruption

The Magpie has been back a couple more times.

And that was the beginning of a 10 minute session of Magpies vs Dale.

Then there were two

The brazen creatures stayed on the nest for several more minutes, picking through the sticks trying to find bits of fish.

They have been back on and off for the last hour

4:30pm MDt

Magpies took over the nest. Eventually Dale came back and chased them off for a few minutes. Then they were back - Dale left -

Magpies now number five

Dale back - chased them off, then they were back - Dale left - Now he's back again. I have lost count how many times the Magpies have won, but they are cleaning up the debris in the nestGrin

Currently Dale has the nest to himself.

6:45pm MDT

Dale had been perched on the nest most of the afternoon. At 6:10, Chip arrived. Both took up their posts on the nest rim acting like they expected a fish delivery imminently.
