Patience is a virtue I seem to be allergic to but nature's trying to change my mind daily.

This is not a story about Frank and Indy but it is a very interesting story from AEF-----
Eagle Nest Cam - American Eagle Foundation
American Eagle Foundation's first hatched bald eaglet for 2013 breeding season was transferred into a captive nest of bald eagle parents (Honor and Brave Heart). This eaglet was hatched on 4-3-13 in the AEF's incubators and placed under the care of the parents that are now adopting and caring for the 7 day old eaglet on 4-10-13. A wooden egg that the pair was sitting on was removed from the nest and and old broken egg shell and the eaglet were placed in the nest cup. A whole trout and quail were also placed in the nest, which one of the adults immediately began feeding to the chick around 1 pm EST. The egg from which this eaglet hatched was actually laid by breeding pair Peace and Faithful on 2-24-13 and was placed in our incubator on 2-25-13. Al Cecere coordinate and performed the actual transfer assisted by AEF staff members Bethany Pack, Beth Parker, Joanne Cheponis and volunteer Terry Sherred. What a team!!!!! (4-10-13)
Unlike our breeding pairs Independence and Franklin, Volunteer and Hero, and Isaiah and Ms. Jefferson on the Dollywood park (that are pretty much laid back in their behavior), two or three of the breeding pairs at our off-park facility are very anxious and jumpy in the nest. Because of that behavior they broke several of their eggs before they could hatch last year. This year we wanted to prevent this from happening and make sure the eggs could be preserved until they actually could hatch. That is why wooden eggs were placed under 3 of the breeding pairs housed at our off-park facility and their real eggs placed in our incubator - until we could place the hatched chicks under the adult pairs for brooding and feeding. We used an eagle puppet to feed the chicks after they hatched from their eggs. 9 eggs in all were placed in our incubator (produced by our offpark pairs, 4 of which have now hatched and 1 of which is currently "pipping".

Another shorter story from the AEF-----
Eagle Nest Cam - American Eagle Foundation
Our first two little eaglets of 2013 - hatched in an incubator, and now being fed with an eagle puppet. They are doing very nicely, and will soon be placed with their real eagle parents. — at American Eagle Foundation - Pigeon Forge, TN.
