Yikes!! This is not a good sign at all. I've never seen no salmon on our underwater cam. Mary and David Hancock and I will be out at Kilby on Sunday for their Thanksgiving turkey dinner they serve. So I'm sure we will stop by the Chehalis salmon hatchery as well as Weaver Creek spawning channel to see what the fish situation is like.

Lots of debris floating around and I think algae is starting to grow on the lens but no fish since I started to watch at 9:05 am!

I see dark shapes going by the cam, but because of the algae on the lens I can't tell if it's fish or debris. Chin

Inspite of the murky water and algae obscuring the view, there appear to be more fish today!

Well the salmon situation at both hatcheries is dismal. First we went to Weaver Creek Sockeye Spawning Channel but there were very few Sockeye. This is also supposed to be the year for pink/humpback salmon but they were very few also and most of them were smaller than normal.

Then we stopped at the Chehalis Salmon Hatchery where our camera is placed underwater in the channel where the salmon are entering the hatchery. The water was very murky due to the rains. David Hancock was able to spot a fish or two here and there but I could barely make out one even when he pointed it out to me.

So there's nothing wrong with our cam as some have questioned. It is working just fine. This is the worst salmon situation I have ever seen. We can only hope it improves. The higher numbers of Sockeye are usually between Oct. 15 - 25.

4:00 p.m.: The water is still quite murky, but I'm seeing more salmon than before.
