The scene at 1:59 pm before I head to work.
The nest is looking homey but there's no one home.

Hi Bet, Jkr and Carolyn,:hello:
Thanks for the s'caps and reports. I had the cam up a bit late morning and again this evening but no time to report, sorry. Both were very busy with the nest-building chores, lots of sticks brought in and that large one was worked on so it finally behaved. It is amazing what they have done in one short week.
It's too bad they still have a pesky young intruder, I wonder if he is the same bachelor that was hanging around last year. For all we know it could be one of Dad's many offspring from way back when. Whatever, Mom stays late on the nest to guard it and the nest wasn't empty very long while I was watching.
I hope that some of you saw the river at 9:22 tonight, the water was turquoise and purple, just beautiful. It was -2 Celsius at 10 am and is 9C now, record lows in about 10 Alberta places last night, as low as -12 and -13. Happy May Day, everyone!
9:42 pm Mom was still on her nest and a bright light just beamed from the bank opposite and she turned and flew left.

THURSDAY MAY 2, 2013
Good Morning Everyone :hello:
8:31 a.m.
I'm late turning on the cam this morning.
Both adults on the nest doing a few renovations.

BET, you definitely do catch the action shots.
A fleeting thought went through my mind even though I know it's next to impossible and you will probably believe I've lost my mind.
I was thinking if Dad from last year had suffered a bad concussion and miraculously healed that maybe... and this is really far fetched...that he could be the O that Mom now thinks is the intruder. This only crossed my mind because the intruder is so insistent that he should occupy this nest. If he'd bring in a Koi then we'd know for sure. Now back to logic --------
8:36 a.m.
Both adults are watching up river toward the sandbar.
And --- Dad decided to fly off that direction.

Good Morning Calgary.....
jkr.......I think that is possible about last year's Dad.
The nest looks great now.....they certainly did a great job.
I wonder what happened with the osprey circling the nest up the river occupied by geese?
