7:05 am
Good morning and welcome to another rain soaked day in Calgary. :ds:
The sandbar is completely underwater. Can't be easy fishing for the O's or any other birds with the river running full capacity. I would love it if new Dad could locate the Koi pond. fingers crossed

On alert and looking around in all directions. The only other activity I've seen is a couple of ducks swimming down river awhile ago.

Up for an egg roll.

Just realized it was Dad doing the incubating this morning .... and now Mom has arrived to take over.
They must have made an early morning switch before I turned on the cam today.

She wasted no time snuggling onto the eggs when Dad flew off.

11:05am MDT

Welcome Home JD I do hope you had a wonderful trip.

Judy - When I logged on this am - looking at the river and the weather - my thoughts turned to the Koi Pond also. Unless New Dad can find it, food will be scarce for several days.

I was concentrating on watching Loch Lowes - The first egg is 37 days tomorrow - or rather tonight our time - so recording Calgary and not paying a lot of attention. A flurry of wings caught my eye in time to catch the action.

A male - again, I am not sure it was Dad - landed on Mom's back. He sort of attempted to mate - Not just stand on her back in the "I own this female and this nest - back off stranger" method

Mom bucked him off

He flew straight on off the nest up river direction.

OK as I type this at 11:30am He landed on her back again and just stood there in the claiming stance. Mom did not buck him off. He leaned down and touched her head with his beak. Flew off back toward the cam. I will do the images in awhile. My dog's are really bugging me for their morning exercise and I can't concentrate.

I just looked at the long range weather forecast for Calgary - :umb: RAIN 8 out of the next 10 days!!!! Oh My Partly sunny this coming Sunday and the following Wednesday. ACKKKKKK!!!!

At 6:38pm Dad flew in for a 2 minute visit - no fish

After he landed he turned - back to the cam - and bent his head down to Mom's head. A short conference. Then he hopped to the back of the nest, but instead of the nest, he landed on Mom's tail feathers and there he stood - looking about. Mom never flinched

He then flew off towards the river

An hour later and no further sight of him

I am not sure who is who, but I think Dad arrived on the nest just before 8:00pm with a fish.
Mom wasted no time standing and grabbing the fish with her beak

:hello: Good morning, everyone. I`m glad that you saw the fish delivery at 8 pm last night, Bet. It will be tough fishing for awhile and it is not warm here, 5C now just after 7am. I had the cam up yesterday afternoon but saw little action other than Mom flat in the nest covering her eggs. Tuning in after 8:30pm I saw Mom up and quickly turning her eggs once or twice and then Dad made the quickest visit at 9:52 pm, just a touchdown and he was off before she had a chance to react. She didn`t look anxious to leave at any rate.

5:44 am COTG, almost missed it as eggs were quickly covered and then Dad flew in two min. later to relieve Mom. I suspect that he missed his cue and she had to return to the eggs until Dad flew in. A small log floated down the river at 5:49 am and then a bird flew out from the near bank but other than that I have seen little activity. The river is dangerously high and cold.

6:34 am Up to roll the eggs. 6:36 am Dad up for a quick flyaround and back.

6:42 am Both on the nest but Dad immediately flies off so Mom is brooding again.
Dad comes in with a stick and lays it on the left side on the nest, fusses with it a bit and leaves. (I think he would stick to Mom like glue if given the chance). giggle We are having a brief respite in the rain but there is a cool wind predicted.

7:30-32 am Our little male housesparrow is hopping on his perches, then disappears and Mom broods on. 7:35 Sparrow back again, must be advertising for a mate or just likes the view.Cool

eta 7:36 am COTG again I think it is Dad back to relieve Mom but I could be wrong, going by behaviour as much as anything.

Good Morning JD and all. :hello:

8:28 a.m.
Dad made a short visit. He was poking around near Mom -- maybe moving a bit of grass.
Mom remained on the eggs.
