Sometime around 6:00 pm....Dad started to bring in stuff to the nest and mom was not moving. He then brought in the large piece of black tar paper??? or whatever it is. I think Dad might be on the eggs right now. I hope whatever it is blown off.

7:25 pm -- Some rain in Calgary and the wind has started blowing a little harder. Blow, Wind, blow the black stuff off the nest.

Good Morning. :hello:
I'm back but I haven't caught up yet.

6:42 am
While I was prepping to watch the cam I think I spotted the O's making a switch.
No idea who's on the nest at the moment.
The black plastic/paper is hanging on an outside branch.

Adult on the nest flew off followed by the adult that appeared to come off the camera pole.
Wondering if they've gone after an intruder :dunno:
Both arrived back almost immediately.
Dad flew off and Mom stayed to incubate the eggs.

Dad arrived with something in his talons -- now that I see it, it's a large piece of soft bark which he placed on the nest rim..

One piece isn't enough. He brings in a second piece and annoys Mom when he hit her with it a couple of times.

He's finally found a place for it in front of Mom. She gives it a few pushes with her beak to move it out of the way.

Dad is off again.

Now he's brought in a third smaller piece. Finds a spot for it and flies off again.

Checking on the cam.
Not much going on. Looks like maybe Dad on the nest.
The black plastic is being shredded in the wind.
A small resident is perched on the sticks. A moment later the "resident" headed into the lower side of the nest. Nice to see two families using the nest this year.

Morning All and Welcome Home Judy. Hope you had a good trip and a wonderful time

Dad just flew in with a fish. First time in a long time that I have seen him bring one home. Dad spends a lot of time egg sitting, so Mom has probably done her own fishing.

Dad was reluctant to release the fish. He actually dragged it back under his body so Mom really had to struggle to get it.

Once she had it in foot she was off

I note that what I thought was tar paper last night looks like a plastic bag this morning. Glad the wind has moved it out on a limb! Tweetie Sparrow is not going to be pleased about it. That is one of his favorite perches.

Hi Judy -- I hope you had a nice time and enjoyed the weekend in Calgary. We did not have as much rain as was expected. Hi BET, thank you for the updates and pictures with the dark tar paper looking stuff. We thought it was tar paper too!

1:40 pm. Wind is really blowing in Calgary. More grasses have been brought to the nest and the black bag is gone. However, one of the pieces of bark keeps blowing in mom's face.
