Saturday night around 7:15 pm.

Dad came in with a big stick. I missed the flight in so maybe he just decided to move it. He manages to put in on mom's back.

He then moves the stick enough that mom gets up and moves of the eggs.

She flies off and he keeps moving the stick and drops it on the eggs. Then he walks ON the eggs to move the stick.

He eventually gets the stick in place and settles down on the eggs.

The stick is annoying! Up off the eggs to try to move it.

Sunday May 19

8:28am

Dad flew in with some weeds.

He dragged the string around the front of Mom. Then lay down facing her. She did not move. He stood and draped himself over her neck

Three times he did this before Mom gave up and backed up from under him and flew off - leaving him to his egg sitting.

8:53am

Mom flew in with a clump of something yucky looking

She landed, placed it to the far side of Dad making him stand up - and without really stopping she took off towards the right. At the same time Dad took off in the opposite direction out towards the down river side.

Suddenly the reason came into view - Dad chasing one of the geese

Within the minute, Mom returned to the nest from the river side. I am guessing she flew around the nest and followed Dad to insure that the goose got the message. Or maybe she was the one that was chasing the goose.

Mom was peacefully incubating the eggs. Dad began a series of fly ins with sticks, bark, and what ever. Mom ignored him. He placed a piece of bark so it lay across her tail feathers. She ignored it and Dad flew off. Returned with a stick. Dropped it and proceeded to walk across Mom's tail feathers

Monday May 20

9:40am

A quiet morning since I logged on. I wasn't sure who was egg sitting until there was a nest exchange. As it turned out Dad was the incubator. Mom came flying in with something to add to the nest

It was a quick exchange and Dad flew off. Immediately returned with a very small stick to add to the nest.

He only stayed for a minute before flying off again.

Well, it has finally happened. Our New Dad has found human trash.

It appears to be tarpaper

After he landed with his prize, he stepped to the side and Mom turned to look at him - and since her beak was open, speak at him. She doesn't look overjoyed with the addition.

Dad moved up to her side. She continued speaking to him. So he left - discretion is the better part of valor?
