Thanks for all the updates, BET. Great sequence of s'caps of the intruder. Was there a third scap in the first set? It does not show up.

We noticed the river rising also. We are having some spring melt and there has been a little bit or rain. We are expecting rain this weekend and more next week.

Supermom just flew in with a little stick and dad was on the nest. He willingly gave up his spot and she took over.

Morning All!

First Christine, I corrected that missing image of yesterday. It was a png file rather than a jpg. The forum won't display png files as they are quite large, but you can view them by clicking on the little square. Just like clicking on an image enlarges it.

Logged on this am. Dad was egg sitting. Mom flew in and with no fuss, took over the job and Dad left. Tweetie sparrow has been flitting all about the left side of the nest. They must have laid their eggs now as I am only seeing one at a time and usually it is the male. I'm thinking their nest is in the upper right corner of the nest box. Mom O just peacefully looking about, picking at the nest material around her for something to do.

What follows here is 12 images from a two minute span.

At 9:24 am She suddenly looks up and stands up - an invader close over head. Mom goes into full defensive mode

When Mom turned as she followed the Invaders flight, she did look down to make sure where the eggs were before she moved her feet.

Wow, BET, thanks for the pictures. Maybe dad understands brooding, nest building and fishing but has not grasped defending yet! Our mom will get him in shape.

Yesterday afternoon, a magpie was bugging mom on the nest. I bet she wanted the sparrow eggs but she made a pest of herself.

Yes, indeed thank you BET. That was quite something. Dad will get it. He is wonderful/don't you love the brooding along with her?

Saturday May 18

Logged on this am to a quiet vista. No wild adventures so far this day. The only activity I noted was the geese - as usual chasing each other away from their chosen areas. Still haven't noted the exact location of the nests.

Mom comfortably ensconced on the eggs dozing. At 901am Dad flew in - no sticks no fish

Mom stood up, they both looked at the eggs - at each other and then Mom returned to egg sitting. Dad wandered about the nest perimeter for a bit. Had another beak to beak discussion with Mom
