Wed May 15

9:00am MDT

Dad was peacefully egg sitting when Mom flew in. She had a very tiny stick. She moved to the right side of the nest to place it on the wall. While she was arranging it to suit herself, she stepped on another stick that must have rolled and she lost her balance ending up taking a header into the nest bowl - This did make Dad get up off the eggs quickly.

As Mom regained her balance - feathers and wings every which way

Ended up with two feathers displaced looking like rabbit ears

Dad left and Mom settled down to peacefully incubate the three eggs.

BET, adorable. These two osprey either are (a) klutzes or (b) clever in ways to get to incubate. Either way they are amusing!

I agree, Carolyn, these osprey are either klutzes or clever.

Our little sparrow has been visiting the nest again today.

Whoever was on the nest left and then dad flew in and mom right behind. The eggs were not alone for long but it was nice to see them.

Mom had been incubating for quite a long while. Dad flew in with a nice fish.

Mom did not take the bait. She stayed right where she was on the eggs Grin - Dad flew off with the fish.

About five minutes later, Mom stood up stretched and just stood on the far side of the nest sky watching - probably watching Dad as she was not perturbed at all. She made a pretty photo

Logged on this am to see Dad comfortably egg sitting. Tweetie bird the sparrow hopping all about the right edge of the nest. Dad started sky watching overhead - suddenly rose up in full alarm defense mode

The third O - Mom - lands and Dad looks to her.

She covers the eggs and Dad takes off - undoubtedly to escort the Invader far away.

All was peaceful on the nest. Tweetie was perched back right side. Suddenly Tweetie flew off and Dad lunged forward

I could see nothing out there that set them off, but it was probably our morning visitor.

By the by, have you all noticed the river continues to rise. The sand bar is disappearing.
