Dad vs the Stick

Dad returned to the nest about 10 31am with a very awkward curved 3 pronged stick. First thing he did was tangle Mom in it

He kept biting at the branches, trying to break offending parts off with zero success. He tangled himself and Mom in it to the point she got up and moved off to edge of nest to get out of his way

Things went from bad to worse. He stepped on an egg and fortunately he has padded the nest so well with grasses, no damage. He continued his struggles, trying to place his feet so as not to step on an egg and trying to move the ****** stick. It - the stick seemed to be winning. Here it is 4 minutes later with Dad on his bottom.

Finally, Dad did win - he got it shoved far enough towards the front of the nest so that he could lie down on the eggs

BET.....That must have been semi-hysterical to watch. Now he needs to know stepping on eggs is not a good idea.

Good morning!

I am glad you caught the branch wrestling, BET. We were watching and thought it was a ploy to get mom off the eggs so he could brood. Now look at what was just brought in at 11:55 AM

Hi Christine! Did you catch the end of the bark adventure. I almost missed the identity. I caught it when I checked my video to try to get the best images to post.

And did you see today we have Two Tweetie Birds. They popped out the back right corner and ended up reentering at the front right corner. I am going to have eye strain trying to check for movement under all those sticks.

Hi, BET. I did not realize at first it was Mom who brought in the bark and it was towards the end when I saw it was her. I wonder if this will be a repeated ploy to get the nest back.

You are so right BET, jkr, Christine and all.....

This pair embodies all the amusing aspects of ospreys. They are playful in so many ways. This stick bopping is really funny (but not for whomever wants to be on the eggs Smile)
Good Night all.....
carolyn

And Happy Mother's Day to this nest and those who visit it.
