The opsrey in the picture were two youngsters at the nest at the 22X in Calgary. I took the picture last fall.

Christine....She has been released tonight. Now to keep up feeling better which is tricky. Thank you for your kind words.

Yahoo ---- thank you BET for catching the time on the second egg !

Carolyn, glad to hear that your daughter is feeling well enough to go home again.

Mom is busy incubating her eggs.
Dad brought in more nesting material. By 7:02 a.m. he was gone again..


7:41 am
Mom up for an egg roll.

7:44 am
Dad arrived. He gently tugs on Mom's back feathers with his beak. Is that his signal for her to get off the eggs and give him a turn ? Whatever -- Mom's not going anywhere in a hurry.


Okay --- he pushes his beak under her to fluff up the bowl and maybe hoping she will move. She is ignoring him.

Lays down beside her. He is toooo cute ! She is refusing to give up her eggs.

Dad is unsuccessful in his attempt to switch with Mom so he finally gave up and flew off.

Morning All

Judy - Your sequence of Dad's - no other word for it - affection - for Mom and his wanting to be close to her and their eggs is wonderful. It made my day start with a smile. I have never seen another Osprey showing the need to be close and touching his mate as this male.

Over the years the activities that have been recorded on this nest are educational to say the least. They put a new slant on the historical behavior of the O's.

I just wish that EnMax would allow someone to monitor the camera and zoom in when appropriate.
