Backing up a minute

Dad flew in at 555pm with a fish


Mom stood up and drug it out from under him


Mom flew off with fish to eat elsewhere


Dad moved forward and took over egg sittting

I do not know what time the egg was laid. I wasn't watching the last couple of hours but the recorder was going so I will check it and see if anything obvious pops up

Christine: Thank you for the Bday card. Who are the two song birds on the crosstree?

The egg was delivered at 5:05pm



I will post a series of the delivery after supper some time when I have time to process them.

Happy Unbirthday BET.....I hope your birthday was wonderful (My daughter was admitted to hospital yesterday and my good intentions of posting a card went out the window).
Let your pups give you a hug from me.

This pair is cool to see....they are perfectly in sync. The two eggs are promising.

Carolyn - Thank you. I am sorry to read your daughter had to be hospitalized. I do hope her health improves quickly and she can return home.

Back to the egg laying.

Mom had been staying on the nest most of the afternoon. At 4: 24 pm Dad flew in to check on her - a little beak to beak conversation


Not too much later - 4:40 pm - he again landed to discuss the status with her


Shortly after this visit, you could see Mom's wings part as her back arched up a bit. Then at 5:05pm Her tail lifted - in fact her entire body begin to lift, rear first

She stood all the way up and there - shiny and on the reddish side is the egg


She tucked her head down and looked back between her legs to view her new egg


From then on until 555pm when Dad delivered the fish to her, she kept the eggs covered.


As I type this, 851pm egg number three was fertilized. Dad just flew in and mated. It was one of those land on her back - perform - leave - never a foot in the nest.

Dad just came in and mom was not too receptive.
