Morning All

I see all the new whatever they are feathery weeds. The nest box is beginning to overflow. The corners are getting filled, even the space between the box and the support post.

Judy, no I do not think the "want to be Dad" is our Original Dad. This intruder male seems to be smaller - smaller than New Dad too. Although I have only been able to get side views of his chest, the chest is quite white. Original Dad's chest was like Mom's - light to medium dark markings.

While I was typing this they have been bringing in new sticks on a non-stop rotation.

1:26pm MDT

If I am identifying them correctly, this is a switch

Mom flew in with a fish at 1:22pm

She just stood in mid nest with the fish in talons

until Dad flew in with a stick at 126pm

Dad - after a minute or two took the fish and flew off. I keep trying to reverse the id's as the logic says Dad delivers fish - but it continues to look like the bigger one is the one who brought in the fish

Both just stand and look about for a minute. O that delivered the fish is closest to the cam and is standing up on a few of the sticks, while the stick deliverer is in the bowl standing on the fish

edit:
Dad did not finish the fish. Left the tail portion in nest bowl.

Good morning Carolyn. :hello:

9:25 am

Mom brought in an entire plant. Wonder where she found that treasure giggle

Hi, Judy :hello: That is a little bigger version of what I was concerned about a few nights ago, it almost looks like netting or string but isn't, thank goodness. Great catch of Mom bringing in the fish, Bet. Guess we shouldn't be too surprised with her gift, after all she did feed her three big youngsters after Dad's demise last Aug. 12th.

And besides, maybe Mom knows what she was doing giving the fish away. I just dropped in (briefly) to find them both on the nest at 2:04 pm with Dad pulling and pulling on that thing - it seems very tough and Mom showed no interest in it. They both flew off leaving the remains mid-nest.Rolling on floor laughing

That is a very unusual thing for them to do, given the intruder(s) here. I have to go out again, I'm afraid. Just as one is back.

FRIDAY, MAY 3, 2013

6:35 a.m
Turned on the cam to see Dad enjoying a fish breakfast while Mom stood watch.

6:52 a.m.
Dad finished his fish and flew off leaving Mom alone on the nest. Mom never did try to claim any of the fish so maybe she had her own earlier this morning....or maybe Dad ate the leftovers she didn't want. :dunno:

The nest looks ready for eggs any time now.

:hello: Morning All

Logged on to see Mom just standing about the nest. Judy, I agree - it does look ready for eggs.

New Dad is interesting. He really likes to spend time on the nest - and it seems to be his preferred dining table.

I'll be gone for some time this am to mid day which seems to be a time when "things" happen. Hopefully if an 'event" occurs, someone will be able to post it.
