I haven't looked in on this pair for a while - nice to see all going well here.

I think this might be Derek incubating, but hard to tell with the cam pulled back.

And here comes the other partner - who does look bigger, but it could be the cam angle.

And I hadn't really noticed this before - she (?) went to the side of the nest box, carefully judged the distance, and flapped up to the lower perch, then looked carefully, and flapped up to the upper perch, and sat there preening for a few minutes. I know the folks at CRC have explained that they would not be able to use a traditional "in a tree" nest, but hadn't really noticed the work it takes for at least one of them to go up to the perches - or the care shown by the CRC staff, because I have no doubt that the perches by their nest were designed just for them. love

She flew down a couple of moments later, in what looked more like a controlled glide with a bit of flapping.

From 5:46 pm
I think Savannah just arrived and told Derek that it was her turn to incubate; I think Derek is on the right even though that looks to be the larger eagle - perhaps he was beginning to open his wings to hop down. I did notice that the eggs are in a row - one of the things we're watching at another nest with 3 eggs is when they're in a row and when they're in a triangle, in part to see if one adult prefers one position, and one prefers the other, or if it's random.

From 5:55 pm
Savannah settled down to incubate.

From 6:11 pm
I was getting ready to take a s'cap a few minutes before this, of Savannah incubating while Derek kept watch from the edge of the nest box - but he took off across the yard before I could get the s'cap. When I looked again, it was very dark - but if you look closely, I think you can see Savannah's white head near the center of the picture, and Derek's white head to the right, where he's keeping watch on the lower perch. love

Good night, everyone.

Donna and JudyB, that branch is sure a nuisance. I hope they get it or have gotten it out of their way. Poor eagle trying to get back on the eggs! eta....it took me a while to find a place I could get this cam, but I did and the branch is moved - yeah.
