Jordan Lake, North Carolina Bald Eagle Nest.

Link to streaming cam link:

This cam is available dawn to dusk Eastern Standard Time and it does require QuickTime to function properly. In prior years, the cam provided still pictures that refreshed automatically for you. This year it's a streaming cam!

There's also an active Facebook page - Jordan Lake EagleCam - where you can get background information about what's happening at the nest - and share your s'caps with that community.

This nest is located in central North Carolina, near the urban areas of Raleigh-Durham and Chapel Hill. It's northeast of Charlotte, where the Carolina Raptor Center is located, and looks to be about half-way between Charlotte and Norfolk, Virginia. The Jordan Lake EagleCam is a collaboration between North Carolina State University and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Wilmington District. The goal of the project is to "stimulate interest in Bald Eagles by letting people in the triangle know that these magnificent birds are now nesting right in their backyards." The nest is situated in an area that provides many large trees suitable for nesting bald eagles with close proximity to lakes and rivers that provide a good food source!

This pair have successfully fledged young in the past four years.

Hi all! wave I emailed Francis Ferrell to ask the status of the cam for this year and he very nicely replied to say that yes, they are working on getting everything ready for this year and installed new cams last weekend.Very Happy

He's not sure exactly when everything will be up and running, but its great to hear that all is currently on track after all the technical problems they had last year. Crossing my fingers that they are not plagued by tech problems again. It is a challenging nest to stream needing a wireless connection that goes all the way across the lake.

I'm looking forward to watching them again!

On Facebook today----

Jordan Lake EagleCam

We are working on getting the Jordan Lake Eagle Cam back up and running this year with all new equipment and technology that we are hoping will be better quality and more reliable. We were out installing the new cameras in the nest tree this past weekend and everything went well. We still have a fair amount to do in order to get the feed online, but will be plugging away at it and hope to be up and running well before the eagles lay eggs in mid-December
