I can't decide if it's the angle, or if he/she might have a deformity or old injury to the foot that's showing.

Got a chance for a closeup - looks as if he or she may have lost the end of a toe at one point.

Good point, rick - and it may be harder for her to sleep perched, which may be why she/he occasionally sleeps lying in the nest even when it's not nesting season. Not something I've noticed before - but we are seeing so much more with the new generation of cams!

A couple more pictures.

He/she appeared to be limping when trying to put weight on that foot, making me think that the injury may be more recent than I'd initially thought. There's not much we can do to check out an adult eagle unless she decides to march up to the door at O.W.L. and knock - and she looks in reasonable shape - and there are a whole lot of fish in the neighborhood - so I'm hoping she'll be OK in a couple of days.

:hello: Judy & Rick.....You think this is Ma Harrison Mills? Sure looks like she had an injury at one time. Saw her limping before laying down.

I'll leave that one to somebody who knows these eagles better than I do :-)

Hi cococat! It seems unlikely that a visiting adult would curl up in a nest - by the time they earn the white head, I'm guessing that they learn to stay out of other eagles' nests! My general sense is more round than angular - which is why I'm guessing Mom. But until I see both of them, it's only a guess. And actually he/she looks as if she has a full female type neck in the North cam, and and sleek male type neck in the South cam - so who knows!

I've sent an email to David and Karen to call their attention to our posts tonight, so perhaps they'll have some comments. If I wasn't quite so sleepy I'd look back at the other pictures we have of eagles visiting here - but I'm afraid it's way past my bedtime.

Good night. sleepy
