Thank you JudyB! I really enjoyed the article and pictures!! Left thumb up The Blackwater Refuge looks to be the perfect place for our cam eagles and osprey to live. Your beautiful pictures certainly emphasize the need to keep these wetland places forever wild. This was one of my first cams as well and even though it doesn't stream I still love to watch it every season! Blackwater is so close to the place that I grew up (York, PA) that I wish sometimes that I still lived in the area with all of it's rich "Eagle Territory"!

One of the info sheets I printed in preparation for our visit says that "the area around the refuge boasts the largest concentration of nesting eagles on the east coast outside of Florida" - and I certainly can see why! They also say that the eagle population increases during the winter as migrating eagles stop by.

Looks as if it's already more than a little rainy. Hurricane Sandy is expected to make landfall in this general area last I knew - stay safe, people, eagles, and others.

Thank you Judy. Friends of BW FB page just announced the refuge will be closed the next two days. I am so worried. :-\

That's all I've been thinking of Lonette and JudyB---not only about our Blackwater eagles and surrounding folks but also Dad and DT in Norfolk and all my eagle friends who live there! Oh My ALSO-- all of my friends in PA where I grew up and personally went through Hurricane Hazel!

I wanted to tell y'all that Litz, who posts here, is in the direct path of this storm and evacuated. Please keep her in your thoughts. That along with Lonette and Judy B and anyone else whom we know form the forum in its path.

And the refuge and surrounding areas of course!
