5:45pm mom has been on the nest for 1hour &30minutes.

I know what you mean, BET. I find it interesting that she didn't show up with a fish. Surely she'd have been swept off the nest by the chicks had she brought a meal.

As she brought nothing, maybe the chicks are as confused as she is about what to do next?

5:51pm mom is still at home.

Well BLess her heart Mom is still on the nest....

6:01pm mom is still there and has to adjust her balance now and then because of the wind.

6:15pm she's still there 2 hours now

6:23pm she's gone...

Missed the shot, but Mom just moved her head around a bit - maybe moving food from her crop, or maybe getting a sighting on something in the distance - and flew off to the right, away from the river.

I watched her leave and it left an empty feeling in my chest and tears in my eyes. It may not be her last visit, but for some reason it seemed to me like it was.
