We are all anxious, Gerard. All we can do is stay positive and trust the rescue organization to do right by the animals in their care. Even if it is 'our' osprey there is no guarantee it will return to the nest after this long. We musn't assume the worst just because we can't know what's happening hour to hour.
As I said toSamsNana, I just want the osprey to be released and live a long good life, even if we never see it again.
I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

Quote by: Janet PrestonJust left rehab ctr. O is still alive and being fed. Xray tomorrow to b sure not injured why it wouldnt fly off balcony. O is thin and weak but receiving nutrition by tube. Also has fish supply in cage. Pls do not call the ctr. More later. I am on IPhone.
Janet
Just to be clear; Please Do NOT Call the Rehabilitation Center to ask about the Osprey!!
I am sure they need their time to attend to the creatures in their care, not answer the phone.

Ok that sounds fine but according to what they told me they stated she was under-weigh,i beg to differ, the person who found her stated she felt a good weight,
it's apparent to me,as i follow the osprey very closely,it would make perfect sense as they have stated that she was a little
under-weight,with-out food for a day and a half would surely do that and what the conditions may have been or may not have been at what-ever nest is
anyone's guess, also birds suffer without food at times, this does not make it right for yee to overly interfere, this is a well
docuemented unadaptable bird in captivity, this bird is now just ten to 13 days away from migration,in their last ten to fifteen days they follow their parent
very closely to learn the skills of fishing, every day is a very important day for her, especially now! if
she is not released immediately this time will pass and it wouldn't matter how much weight she would have, sometimes,as i am a well informed naturalist,
i know this,i follow the bird and know all too well how intricate this time is but of
course yer concern is her weight,it's much more important for this bird to be released even if a little underweight, let the nest she is at deal with this, the reply
from the place she is at just proves to me more each day that sometimes experts just
don't get,they think because they have a title,they are the law,i'm watching Newfoundland osprey's,juvies galore following,whistling,learning the skills,this
bird need to be doing the same,i'm open, lets start this discussion!!! I called once i won't call again,
this juvie is running out of time, big time.

Thanks for the report Janet. Just to reiterate what Terry said.......we are observers and this osprey is part of nature. The rehab people will do what is best for this beautiful little one and we must trust them.
I am glad the chick is doing welll there!

4:33pm - They were definitely calling...here's Mom with the fish delivery.

It's a headless fish, so they were anxiously watching her over on her post eating.
Thank goodness Mom is taking care of herself first!
4:41pm - Mom just flew off.
