12:03pm

A juvie had been on the nest for some time. A couple of times the shadow of an O passed over the nest. The juvie began to call out. And here comes one of the siblings

And then here comes Mom, fish delivery

A brief flurry of wings, and the juvie that had been on the nest was the winner

No real fish fight to speak of. The second juvie is still standing by, waiting his opportunity no doubt.

Thank you all for the great comments and infomation.Osprey juvies are now catching fish in rivers and ponds around St.John's in Quidi Vidi lake,
Mundy pond and Bowring Park duck pond,on their own without
any parents in sight. As it goes for a fast flowing river,i've been to Calgary and i must admit, that river really does flow fast.Even in fast flowing rivers
it's more likely still that fish will lie in an area, they stay still waiting for food,
then they boogie for it and go right back to the spot they were in,like a salmon will take a trouters fly,not to eat it,it bugs them so the salmon grabs the
fly and spits it out, then goes back to his spot that he picked to hang in.In Bowring park there are so
many brown trout you can throw food from the bridge, they dart to it,grab it and then watch them go back to the spot that they picked to hang, the osprey
spots a fish or a school of fish lying still, and then they dive,if the fish moves at all,the osprey
immediately pulls out of the dive.As it goes also,i have seen ospreys track a fish in the sky,the fish was moving and they will stalk a moving fish so this
is very much a possiblity, although its much more common for an osprey to dive
at a fish or fishes that they see standing still in or rather below the waters surface. Its great to have discussions as i am learning from you all this year
that its now an evident observation that a female breeder will hold
out when the resident male is lost, and it appears she's gonna stay till they migrate, whether she has a boyfriendGrin or not, thanks for letting me come on
board here as all you dedicated posters have been watching the action all year
long, and Bravo to you all for your great time and effort!

1:16 pm Mom landed with another fish which goes to the waiting one who mantles and takes it to 4.

Mom remains at 12 on the nest for a few minutes and then flies out. Our youngster looks afraid to eat, still calls and mantles. He may lose out if he doesn't start eating soon, where is our third youngster, after all?
