BET, wonderful reenactment! I was smiling throughout. Everyone great posts!

I hope Mom is deciding to try to make them fend for themselves and to fatten herself up.

Great coverage of a not so busy day - Bev glad the tea is helping you that Terry suggested!

I wonder if it was a slower day at the nest because of boats on the river. Although I only saw one, the police and fire department expected the waters to be busy today and for the whole long weekend. I wonder if mom is also saying "start getting your own food. I won't be here forever."[/p]

I think it was last year - maybe the year before - they do run into each other - Judy R noted that on weekends, there were fewer fish delivered. The educated guess being a lot more human activity up and down the river disturbing the fish.

8:35pm.....Good evening everyone! Just got logged in and it took me quite a while to go back and read all your posts today! Glad to see so many people here today. There were 2 chicks in the nest at first but there is only 1 there now. I didn't see what happened as I was reading all the posts. JD, thank you for noticing that post. I just looked back and your are correct. That is Mom in the nest eating the fish. I am really glad to see her eat as we are all concerned that she might not be as strong and fit as she normally would be by now. Let's hope that she is eating like that more often, even when off camera.

11:13 pm One young osprey on the nest in the same position as in your s'cap JudyB. I had to use BET's method of watching the river to see if the cam had frozen -it hadn't- as there has been so little movement .

It is hard to say what brought on the incredible change in the food supply today. There was a slight disturbance in weather, it rained for 5 or 6 min. just before 3 pm but the possible storm did not materialize here and I don't think that there was much river traffic. That certainly could change tomorrow however.

Yes, Jean, I was sure that your s'cap caught Mom last night finishing up the fish and she was hungry. It would probably be a good thing if you edited your post to reflect that it was her and not one of the chicks, just to keep the record straight if you don't mind, thanks. Good night
