11:17 am Another chick just landed in the middle of the nest, then moved over to the left edge opposite her sibling. Is it the full moon tonight or the full bellies....

11:21 I just removed my cat from blocking my view (he's obviously ready to go for snuggles) and looked up and there is another chick on the nest! Nice bright view tonight with the full moon!

Now it is time for me to give my kitty some attention before he knocks my monitor off the desk!

:hello: Darlene,

Yes, it has been very bright the whole week, I believe.
I was calling it a Blue Moon - 2nd one in the same month - but my son said no as the full moon isn't until after midnight here. sigh sign

I want to say welcome to Sharon and thank you so much for your photos of Mom and the nest and area, they add so much and are marvelous. Thank You

I don't know if you saw any other ospreys close to the nest while you were there. Some viewers think that Mom has been aided in the fishing department lately but I don't believe that there has been any evidence of that. Everything that I have seen posted or when I was viewing the cam shows Mom bringing the fish in.

Thanks, arkyquest for the height of the pole. I especially like the photo "it's this big"! I think you are quite gifted in understanding the language of the osprey. LOL

I'll be here tomorrow afternoon to see what surprises they have in store for us then.

Good night

I came for the eagles, and stayed for the friends I made

1:00 am Both young osprey remain on the nest, the one on the left edge is preening while the right one sleeps with head curled back. Good night

I cannot be sure, but i believe that there is no way that momma could provide all that she has without help,i tend to
be under the thought that the new male is in
court-ship,these fish would be delivered directly to the momma. As it goes for the new male,he has made an
appearance,which i believe is an
indicator that he is about.I think the reason he may not be going to the nest is that momma is his main interest,
he has no true connection to the chicks, and the court-ship is
just a very lucky occurrence, and a savior for these chicks as she can utilize the benefit of her boyfriends delivered
fish straight to her chicks. This is an assumption i have,
of course i have no real evidence to clarify except for the males visit sort of sealed it for me as at one nesting site here,
there was an intruder osprey at the beginning of the season, both the
female and the male watch over their territory while one fishes, then one comes back and then the other goes to fish,
however the intruder male just kept bringing fish to the
female.Jazzel clarified that they have info that the male and female at the start of a season fish for themselves before
eggs are laid or rather before the breeding starts, the loving!
The intruder was courting the female with fish, and the extent of fish that are being delivered leads me to believe fully
that she has a boyfriend.Hopefully someday very very soon, someone live at the site
will see this,of course without evidence i'm guessing. Also the male is built to fish a plenty, although momma looks just like
a fishing male by the size of her. This is a hard one to call:dunno:

Good morning Gerard. :hello:
I think there is a very good chance Mom has been catching all these fish. She is getting skinny from all her hard work but her dark breast feathers confirm it's her. Her advantage is that the Bow River is the best fishing river in Alberta so she has been fortunate that she can feed these chicks. From the looks of them I'd say a day or two without food wouldn't hurt. They are overly chubby IMHO.....or as BET so accurately stated yesterday --- FAT ! Green LOL

6:46 am
All three chicks are on the nest poking around.
