Hi Judy! Noted your question regarding the squirrel. I think there was a sighting once a couple of years ago - maybe before the adults returned?- But I won't bet on it. The usual visitors are the Magpies. In fact last year - I think there was 6 at one time that literally drove Alvin with his fish off the nest .

Oh yes, for got the Canada's who want to use the nest as theirs. I have never quite understood that - how do they expect their new hatchlings to get to the ground safely?

I know the answer to that BET, only because I spoke someone who actually witnessed it happening years ago at another osprey nest. The goslings are so tiny, fluffy and weigh so little that they literally float through the air as they tumble to the ground from the nest. Amazing they don't get hurt.

7:25 pm
The chick at 10:00 is certainly enjoying his fish.
Mom is still standing watching him eat. His sibling is standing very still over his own fish but not eating.
The third chick must be out fishing or perched somewhere resting.

7:30 pm
Poopshoot by the chick at the 7:00 corner. Then he decides to work on his fish again.

The chick with the latest fish has decided to drag his meal from the 11:00 corner to the 5:00 corner. Mom moves out of his way as he makes his way across the nest and heads to the 1:00 area.

Not happy with his fish at the 5:00 corner he movies to to 3:00 -- back to 5:00 -- stops for a poopshoot --- finally moves to the 1:00 corner to resume eating.

Mom watching the chick at 7:00 eat. Does he want to feed him or just observe his eating skills ?

8:15 pm
Mom flew off across the river.
The two chicks are still working on their fish.....or standing on their fish.

8:20 pm
The third chick just made a fly-by. He came in from the river and it looked as if he was planning to land but changed his mind at the last second and kept on going to the left of the screen. The two on the nest watched and then continued their meal.

One chick shakes the fish loose from his foot and leaves it sitting next to the gnarly fabric at mid nest.
His partner is still eating.
