8:05 to 8:20 all 3 chicks are on the nest. Then one flies off. They are chattering off and on. At 8:17 an osprey flew below the nest and passed by the sandbar.

8:23 One has flown off and the other is flapping its wings and then it too is off the nest.

I thought they were on the sandbar and one of the chicks flew from the sandbar to the nest and then was right off again.

Good morning, Donna and Judy,:hello:

That was quite a day yesterday, thanks everyone for all the posts and s'caps.
I saw that quick on and off this morning too, Donna. Smile

At 8:48 am one oslet came in to stay awhile, joined by her sibling at 8:53 am.
Guess they are waiting for room service to begin. Supposed to hit a warm 29C today so hopefully there will be a good breakfast soon.

I really don't know how long Mom can keep this up, she must be getting so tired. It's a good thing that our chicks are able to defend the nest so well too with all the intruder activity.

I'm away for a few days so look forward to all your reports. I hope that all goes
well.Smile

9:04 am The chick at 6 us calling for brekkie, now joined by her companion.

What will today bring?

EDIT 11:30am

Not much to report for the last two hours. Two chicks have been on / off the nest - just standing around - haven't noted them peeping/squawking.

Good afternoon!

2:16 pm
I've been watching the chicks coming and going this afternoon, and it looks as if they've gone into defensive mode briefly a couple of times, but haven't seen Mom yet today, though I haven't been watching constantly. Perhaps she's taking a bit of a break after her heroic efforts yesterday. Must admit my eyes aren't good enough to see if anyone osprey-like is down on the sand bar.

Two chicks on the nest at the moment and the third was there a few minutes ago. I also haven't seen more than three today. Smile

2"30pm MDT

I haven't seen Mom or a fish since I logged on this am 9:30am nest time. Haven't seen our #4 either. Once I thought Mom might be near, but that fizzled out. I have seen a big dark bird on the sand bar a couple of times. Probably an O.

That's it so far.

I believe that Mom has arrived!

2:50 pm
The third chick hasn't arrived yet. And the chick without the fish just moved closer to Mom and the one at the top of the nest (12 o'clock position) with the fish, and all three went into defensive mode.

They've relaxed a bit now, and the one with the fish is back to eating.

2:53 pm
Both chicks have wings spread and look as if they're mantling/defending. Mom is watching, but hasn't changed from her "standing in nest" position. I'm wondering if they're seeing another chick, which might be more of a concern to the chicks than to an adult with an instinct to feed fledglings.
