The boat that headed downstream - possibly to the weir - in a hurry at 2:24 pm sped back upstream at 2:47. Hopefully all is okay. Now, two minutes later some paddlers go by. It may be another busy weekend on the river.

2:52-56 pm The hungry chick at 1 is still eagerly eating, Miss Piggy appears to be chatting along with sis and they both are looking up at someone flying overhead. It also finally catches the other chicks attention, now they go into protective mode.

eta Hi Jean, didn`t see you here. Yes, they are growing up and will soon be off for good. Mom has taken great care of them since Dad`s disappearance in that hailstorm - it will be two weeks tomorrow night. Sad , not a happy anniversary to be sure.

4:00 pm Mom just landed with another fish, now all three can hopefully eat in peace.
Mom looks so small alongside her three mantling chicks.

4:05 pm I hope that our chick can move her fish into the corner at 4, it got hung up on a stick and she is nervous about moving it. Wow it is a very good size! Almost there.

4:00pm mom in with a fish-- based on the chaos on the nest. I can never see the fish as mom arrives with it

Chick at 11oclock is eating and so is the one at 7oclock
the 3rd looks a bit warm-- has his wings in a slack position.

HI Terri :hello:

The chick at 3 has the new fish and was mantling it in your s`cap. Then all four osprey saw a threat from above, started mantling and Mom took off after the intruder at 4:07 pm. She hasn`t returned and probably won`t now as all her chicks have fish to eat. What a provider she has proven herself to be! Wub

I only hope that she can look after her own needs too. Chicks are still on the alert as they should be with all that food on the nest.

JD, I was also noticing that Mom is looking thin when she arrives with fish but I'm sure it's because she's wet from diving for their lunch.
I certainly hope everyone ate today.

Here is the fish delivery at 4:00pm and yes, the third chick with the feather got the fish - not contested at all by the other two.

Now this is the strangest delivery I have ever witnessed ( - well via slow motion video) Mom is inbound feet first - position used when attacking. She seemed to be trying to land over chick 2 at left rear nest. She landed long, knocking feather chick 3 out of the way. Feet on the nest, she drug the fish to mid nest where feather chick secured it - He then drug it towards the right front. Seemed to have trouble dragging it, like it was too heavy, or his leg hurt

Here are the sequential stills of Mom inbound
