The returning chick wants some of that fish. It moves closer, then away and then there is a tussle over the fish. The returning chick does not get the fish.

It has been raining.

There is another fight for the food and then mom comes in with another big fish. I believe that the returning chick nabbed it and the chick that was at 11 moves to 5. Mom moves from 5 to 11 and then flies off the nest leaving 2 to eat fish and 1 to watch.

I am second guessing myself. The chick that was at 11...the one that had the first fish all night may have gotten the fish mom brought in. It was hard to tell for sure.

I am out for awhile.

7:20 am

Good morning everyone!

Two of them are still eating. The one with the large fish has been flapping but I think it is because a stick is bugging it and it is trying to get it out of the way.

It is exciting and sad to know that one of them slept off-nest last night. The lets are growing up but if all continues to go well, they will be leaving us. Despite the challenges of the nest -- boy it has been quite the year -- I am feeling some hope now even though I miss our Dad. I wonder if the lets miss the wonderful taste of koi that dad used to bring them and will the new dad find the koi pond next year. If he doesn't, the koi pond owner will not have such an expensive summer.

Good morning :hello: I see everyone got here before me this morning including our third chick.

7:37 am
The two with their fish are trying to get them into a better position.
I'll have to read back but am I right thinking the chick at 4:00 has already eaten -- or had the fish last night ?

Did I miss a fish delivery in the 2 minutes it took to grab a coffee ?
The chick at 11:00 eating and now a chick at 1:00 eating. a chick at 12:00 is wanting the fish the chick at 1:00 has. I know I'm not awake yet but I didn't think the other chick had enough food left for the other one to steal.
ETA: I finally noticed he had a fish tail and likely just finishing off what he had so it wasn't a new fish.

No, you did not miss a delivery. Mom brought it earlier and the chick has already moved it from one corner to the other.

I finally discovered that Christine. It's my early morning foggy brain that couldn't figure what he was eating.
After a couple of cups of coffee I'll be fine Rolling on floor laughing

Getting the fish in another position. I'm surprised the other one hasn't tried to grab it, yet he had been more interested in the small piece the other one had.

Lost power while posting.

I am not even awake so I can't remember what I was saying.

I still can't figure out how you manage to get up so early, Judy, and post the Calgary weather. My eyes are barely open when you do. Wait.....my eyes are not open when you do.
