part 2

The O was another juvenile (shades of last year) She just stood there next to the eater as if - I'm here - what do I do now?

The nest chick - I think it's number 1 - the Boss - had enough of this newcomers presence and moved up next to her - Began a discussion

Evidently squawks were insufficient advice so #1 bopped her one on the head

I began reading where I'd left off today and then when I saw the mention of 4 on the nest I thought maybe I was on the wrong thread. Wow, as if Mom doesn't already have her talons full with the 3 she has !
Maybe he realized Mom is a better fisherwoman than his own Mom.

4:10 pm
One eating at 11:00
One standing at 3:00 and one at 6:00.

As I began posting that the chick at 3:00 has moved over to 7:00 area.

4:16 pm
Fight broke out over the fish. The instigator lost out and the chick with the fish continued to eat.

4:02pm Four?? OMG!! What next at this nest. Faint

giggle

4:10 pm
Anyone just tuning in now will see three sedate young ospreys sunning themselves and staring at the river awaiting a new fish and a little bit of excitment perhaps. How this belies what just transpired today!

4:15pm
A little more action as the osprey at 11 finishes eating his large meal with a sibling still hoping to seize the prey.
4:16 pm Not successful though as yet.

4:16pm a bit of a scuffle as the chick at 6oclock decided to try and get the fish from the 'eater' at 11oclock spot. Not successful.
While this was happening a black bird flew into view seemingly from below the nest and out toward the sandbar.

Thanks for the great sequence of events BET.
I'm almost feeling bad for the intruder in case he is actually going a long while without food. But then again, maybe he's just popping in from his own nearby nest.

Another fight broke out over the fish and I think without success again.
The loser heads back to his corner with his wings spread.

4:28pm healthy poopshot from the eater -- but that doesn't mean he will give up his fish... another brief scuffle with a sibling (I think the same 1 as last time.)

4:30pm good poopshot from the chick trying for the food

AH HA!! maybe he did surrender the fish. I now realize the bird at 6oclock spot is eating -- a assume it's the fish that the other 1 at 12oclock was eating.
